There are many competing-complementary paradigms (HIPS, sandbox, scanning, firewall, heuristics, keylogger, specialty adventures). Solid malware products and support is very difficult today. Go Malwarebytes –Keep it Free – Keep it ROCKIN’ This would be to prevent making older systems with low system resources slower than a snail. In fact, I would have to go in and disable the “Pro” features if they were present in the free version. However, the paid version supports features we are not truly interested in. They would be happy to pay up for it, as it is, so fast and effective. I have never figured out how Malwarebytes can give such an incredible “free version” product away. People above have asked, why don’t I just turn that part of the program off? Well, you indeed could do that, but then what would be the purpose of buying the paid version? After all, the free version is just as effective at removing viruses it just does not have the CPU hog preventative scanner service included. If the product generates persistent high CPU usage for preventative action, that would be a deal killer in my book. There are several alternative tools that excel in malware detention and prevention, but none of those programs hold a candle next to Malwarebytes ability to pull off even the most stubborn of malware. The strength of Malwarebytes is in its ability to repair already damaged systems. It seems to me the additional features offered in the Pro version are ancillary to the key features that make the product ROCK. The performance of the free version of the software is second to none compared to all other free and paid alternatives.
